Habitat NCR Women's Build 2015

About Women
Build
Habitat for Humanity National Capital Region (Habitat NCR) Women Build promotes
the involvement of women in the construction of Habitat homes. Women Build
Program is not about excluding men it is about including women! Never worn a
hard hat? Not a problem - no experience is necessary. Women have the capability
and determination necessary to build Habitat for Humanity homes. On a Women
Build site, female volunteers from all walks of life come together to learn,
laugh, and encourage one another... ultimately realizing their ability to help build
homes in partnership.
WHY
More than 1 in 5 women and 1 in 9 children in Canada are living in substandard
or inappropriate housing. The uncertainty of living in these conditions poses a
significant threat to a child’s health, growth and potential.
WHO
The Women Build involves teams of 10 to 15 women. You can form your own team in
your workplace or with friends and family, or we can match you with a team.
Each team is asked to raise $10,000 to help fund the build through fundraising.
The team will then participate in a build day on site between May and October.
Team members require no previous construction experience as skilled Crew
Leaders will work with all teams to help guide them as they build a home.
