This Provincial qualifier swim meet is named in honour of Elaine Tanner.
Elaine Tanner aka “Mighty Mouse” – was a unique Canadian phenomenon, a small package of talent and determination, with boundless energy and simple charm who captured the imagination of an entire country leading up to the 1968 Olympics.

Elaine Tanner could swim every stroke but was especially talented in the backstroke and butterfly. Her Coach molded her talents into one of the fastest swimming machines in the world. As part of the freestyle relay team, Elaine and her teammates won by 3/10’s to stand on the winner’s podium as the new Canadian flag was raised for the first time at International Games.

Athletes who attend this “Provincial Qualifier” will have an opportunity to attend the next level of games – Provincial Spring Games. Our athletes demonstrate many of the same qualities as Elaine with their determination, boundless energy and simple charms; learning from yesterday, but living for today.

By purchasing one of these shirts, you will be helping us pay for the facilities to host this great event. You will also be demonstrating your support to the organization, our athletes, your family members, friends or neighbours by proudly wearing the Special Olympics logo on your front & boasting the Athletes Oath on the back.

Show your boundless energy – let’s fill the stands with shirts on the Saturday, April 18th.
